Reservists, CPFR put family first
TACOMA, Wash.- Master Sgt. Steven Thomas, right, superintendant of the 446th Mission Support Group Airman and Family Readiness Center, McChord Air Force Base, Wash. and 446th MSS Airman and Family Readiness technician, Tech. Sgt. Rick Martini, carry cases of milk to load on to a truck this morning. The milk, along with bags of potatoes, ham, and non-perishable goods were collected by Central Pierce County Fire and Rescue here and given to the Airman and Family Readiness Center to distribute to Reserve families in need today. For about the last five years, the Airman and Family Readiness Center and CPFR have worked together to help needy families. More than 30 boxes were given to families. A time for giving
TACOMA, Wash.- Rows of Christmas food baskets made by workers with the Central Pierce County Fire and Rescue Department here are ready to be distributed to families in need during the holiday season. Local company presented with highest award for employers of Reservists
MCCHORD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash., - Maj. Stephen Oliver, second from the left, is a Reservist with the 446th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and an employee of Microsoft. Local organizations donate to Care & Share
MCCHORD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash., Carlene Joseph of the Pierce Military Business Alliance in Lakewood, Wash., presents to Col. William Flanigan, 446th Airlift Wing commander, a $2,000 check for the wing's Care & Share program during a commander's call here Nov. 8. Care & Share supports Reserve Airmen in a variety of ways; from short-term loans to help pay rent to Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for struggling families. The generous gift from PMBA was matched by the Hawks Prairie Rotary Club, Lacey, Wash., which also donated $2,000 to Care & Share. ?Our goal is to make sure the 446th Airlift Wing is taken care of every year,? said Ms. Joseph. Members of the PMBA raised the money by collecting donations outside local Top Food & Drug stores and organizing a golf tournament at Meadow Park Golf Course in September. CES Reservist first at McChord to operate vehicle
Washington state Army National Guardsman Sgt. John Taber a motor sergeant with the 204th Engineers based in Centralia, Wash., gives Senior Master Sgt. Chris Webster, 446th Civil Engineer Squadron, superintendent of the construction equipment shop and vehicle control officer for the 446th CES at McChord Air Force Base, Wash., an overview of the instruments in the cabin of the new Army general purpose cargo truck on Fort Lewis. On Sept. 18, Sergeant Webster was the first person on base to be licensed to drive the new Army general purpose truck; which replaces a variety of Army vehicles of the same class, including the 2 1/2-ton Army truck known as a ?deuce and a half.?
