Darius and Girenas
The photo of Steponas Darius and Stasys Girėnas created the idea for Lt. Col. (Dr.) Arunas Banionis' postage stamp design, which earned him first place in the Lithuania Post Postage Stamps Design Contest in May. Banionis, a 446th Aerospace Medicine Squadron flight surgeon, grew up collecting stamps and had an interest in Darius and Girėnas' transatlantic flight, which was the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean by Lithuanian-born pilots. DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE, Ga. - Port Dawgs from the 36th Aerial Port Squadron, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., run their final lap in the Fit to Fight challenge at the Port Dawg Competition at Dobbins ARB, Ga. The Air Force Reserve Command-sponsored competition Oct. 25-29, focuses on generating esprit de corps and camaraderie, as well as the opportunity to share skills.
