Some might consider Airman 1st Class Dominic Luka a foreigner, but experiencing loss is definitely something that’s familiar to him. By age 11, Luka suffered the loss of, his father, stepmother, a sister, and two brothers. As one of the Lost Boys of the Sudan, he was evacuated from his homeland and sent to a Kenyan refugee camp before coming to the United States and enlisting into the Air Force Reserve. A1C Dominic Luka
Airman 1st Class Dominic Luka has travelled to many places from the Sudan to New York City and to Oregon, with the purpose of improving his life. As one of the Lost Boys of the Sudan, Luka was evacuated from his homeland and sent to a Kenyan refugee camp before coming to the United States and enlisting into the Air Force Reserve. His father was killed in the civil war in the Sudan, and two of his brothers, one of his sisters, and his stepmother died of illness. As one of the Sudan “Lost Boys” Luka was evacuated from his homeland and sent to a Kenyan refugee camp before coming to the United States and enlisting into the Air Force Reserve. He’ll be assigned to the 446th Force Support Squadron, out of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, McChord Field, Wash. when he finishes basic training and his technical school.
