Community supports Reservists during holiday season
Reservists from the 446th Airlift Wing and firefighters from the Central Pierce County Fire Department load boxes full of donated food into a van Dec. 18, 2014 at the Central Pierce County Fire Department in Midland, Washington. These Christmas boxes will go to families in need within the community. Fifty two of them are being donated to 446th AW Reservists. This year marks the tenth anniversary for the fundraiser. Tech. Sgt. Andrew Mutch, 446th Force Support Squadron, helps a Central Pierce County firefighter carry a Christmas box Dec. 18, 2014 at the Central Pierce County Fire Department in Midland, Washington. The box is one of 52 being donated to Reserve families in the area. It contains various food items donated to the fire department by members of the community. Community supports Reservists during holiday season
Community volunteers of various organizations pose for a photo with Reservists from the 446th Airlift Wing, including Col. A1C Dominic Luka
Before Airman 1st Class Dominic Luka’s 12th birthday he lost more loved ones than most people have in their 30s and 40s. His father was killed in the civil war in the Sudan, and two of his brothers, one of his sisters, and his stepmother died of illness. As one of the Sudan “Lost Boys” Luka was evacuated from his homeland and sent to a Kenyan refugee camp before coming to the United States and enlisting into the Air Force Reserve. He’ll be assigned to the 446th Force Support Squadron, out of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, McChord Field, Wash. when he finishes basic training and his technical school. Airman 1st Class Dominic Luka has travelled to many places from the Sudan to New York City and to Oregon, with the purpose of improving his life. As one of the Lost Boys of the Sudan, Luka was evacuated from his homeland and sent to a Kenyan refugee camp before coming to the United States and enlisting into the Air Force Reserve. Master Sgt.Stephanie Carrasquillo , 446th Force Support Squadron, officer gets an autography by a Seattle Seahawk at the Warrior Zone, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., Sept. 10. The Seahawks officially adopted the 446th AW as their military unit of the 2013 NFL season. The Seahawks' "12th Man" flag was transferred to the 446th AW from the 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT), 2nd Infantry Division as part of a "change of command" ceremony. The players had a brief meet and greet with the Airmen and Soldiers before they departed. The flag will travel with the Citizen Airman all over the world until the 2014 season.
