Reservists from the 446th Security Forces Squadron here bore a striking resemblance to Chuck Norris' character in "Walker, Texas Ranger" during a defensive tactics training course Sept. 11-12 designed to give security forces personnel the upper hand in any battle against the bad guys.

The 446th SFS participates in this type of training exercise at least once a year to keep Reservists fresh and battle-savvy.

"Normally, we try to talk our way out of a fight or use less dangerous options like pepper spray or a taser" said Master Sgt. Robert Kampert, a flight chief with the 446th SFS. "Usually it's not a good day when we have to resort to kicks and strikes, but we have to be ready for that."

The 446th SFS was able to take advantage of some expert training during the exercise.  They were instructed by Abdul Mohamed, one of only 38 Washington State certified defensive tactic instructors.  As a former police officer and current training officer for the King County (Wash.) Jail, Mr. Mohamed offered up some defensive tactics that tested and pushed these security forces specialists.  The course participants were thankful for the training.

"This is one of the more hands-on courses I've ever been a part of," said Senior Airman Anthony Reichelt, 446th SFS.  "It's definitely a good workout."

Somewhere, Chuck Norris is smiling.
