    Lt. Gen. Richard Scobee, chief of the Air Force Reserve, and his counterparts from the Marines, Army, Navy and National Guard testified before the Senate Appropriations Committee’s Subcommittee on Defense during a hearing May 18.
  • Air Force Reserve led KC-46A candidate bases announced

    Today the Department of the Air Force announced six candidate bases for future Reserve-led KC-46A Pegasus operations with plans for 12 permanently affixed aircraft to be stationed at the base chosen.

  • President signs Executive Order calling up Air Force Reserve medics, other specialties

    On March 27, the President signed an Executive Order authorizing mobilization of the Reserve Component in response to COVID-19 operations.  For the Air Force Reserve, personnel already serving in the Selected Reserve and Participating Individual Ready Reserve, as well as those assigned to the Individual Ready Reserve, may be asked to volunteer to activate in support of COVID-19 response.  If taskings exceed the volunteer pool, mobilization of the IRR to active status is now authorized to ensure mission accomplishment.

    Spark Tank also offers Airmen the opportunity to get their ideas in front of key enabling agencies that can share expertise and resources such as funding or personnel for the projects being presented and demonstrate pathways for intrapreneurs to make their initiatives successful.
  • Guard and Reserve crucial to CCATT expansion

    CCATTs augment aeromedical evacuation crews that turn the back of an aircraft of opportunity into a flying intensive care unit. Made up of a three-person medical team, CCATTs provide advanced care, transporting severely injured or ill patients to higher levels of care. The Air Force is increasing the number of Critical Care Air Transport Teams to support future readiness requirements.
  • New financial readiness training coming in November

    Beginning Nov. 15, financial readiness training will be required for all Reserve Citizen Airmen at defined touchpoints throughout their military career.

  • AF Reserve celebrates 20th anniversary as major command

    The Air Force Reserve is celebrating 20 years as a major command this month. On Feb. 17, 1997, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Ronald R. Fogleman presided over a ceremony in Washington, D.C., that established Air Force Reserve Command as the Air Force’s ninth major command. Prior to that date, the Reserve functioned as a field operating agency or a separate operating agency.
