  • 446th Airlift Wing D-Day heritage video

    Airmen from the 446th Bomb Group, along with hundreds of thousands of Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen, take part in Operation Overlord, also known as D-Day, June 6, 1944. Allied Forces invaded northern France and would march on towards Berlin, Germany, to defeat the Nazi war machine during World War II. The 446th Airlift Wing descends from the 446th Bomb Group and takes pride in this rich heritage.
  • Air Force National Museum’s 75th anniversary of D-Day in May, June

    On June 6, 1944, D-Day - the largest amphibious assault in history - took place as more than 150,000 American, British and Canadian forces landed on five beaches along a 50-mile stretch of heavily fortified French coast. Seventy five years later, the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force will commemorate this historic feat with several events beginning in May and continuing throughout the year.
