Maj. John Dyson, an operations officer with the 86th Aerial Port Squadron, McChord Field, Wash., deployed to the Transit Center at Manas, Kyrgyzstan, November 2012 to June 2013. During that timeframe, he provided oversight for the movement of more than 220,000 U.S. warfighters, 17,000 short tons of baggage, and just fewer than 3,000 short tons of cargo on 2,700-plus missions. In addition to his normal port duties, he was one of the logistics officers who support the recovery efforts of the KC-135 Stratotanker mishap in May. (U.S. Air Force Reserve photo by Master Sgt.
