C-17 joint crew kicks off Operation Deep Freeze 2011-2012

MCMURDO STATION, Antarctica - A C-17 from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., parks on the ice at McMurdo Station, after deliverying cargo and personnel in one of the first flights of the new season of Operation Deep Freeze. Crews of Reserve and active-duty Airmen from the 446th and 62nd Airlift Wings at JBLM plan to fly 72 missions this season, 10 more than last year. (Courtesy photo)
