ESGR Patriot Award
Senior Master Sgt. Rob Cutchin (second from the left) and Senior Airman Tracy Bettendorf (middle) presented an Employee Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award to Bettendorf's employer Aisha Laguer (fourth from the left) and the rest of the North Fort Youth Center Sept. 5 at Hangar 12. According to the ESGR website, the Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support Citizen Warriors through a wide range of measures, including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families and granting leaves of absence if needed. Bettendorf has worked at the youth center for the last four and a half years and they have supported her for her last two and a half years as a Reservist. She nominated them for the award because of their support and understanding during her six months of orders. "I am responsible for creating and teaching science and woodworking curriculum for elementary-aged children at North Fort," she said. "There is a set time throughout the month that is devoted to writing the curriculum and cleaning the assigned room. North Fort management provided me with additional time to complete the summer curriculum, given I was on orders over the summer and had no time to accomplish it."
