Employer Support for Guard and Reserve presents award to Microsoft

Mr. Ballmer was recognized for his and Microsoft's outstanding support for Guardsmen and Reservists who work for Microsoft. EMS keeps Reservists safe, in touch
With just a few keystrokes, Master Sgt. Laura Elliott, 446th Operations Support Flight, McChord Air Force Base, Wash., can send out emergency notifications to all Reservists in the 446th Airlift Wing. On the direction of the wing commanderr, Sergeant Elliott will employ the new Air Force Reserve Command emergency notificaiton system to deliver messages ranging from a specific squadron's recall, to delayed reporting due to weather. Ending an era
More than 30 members from the 446th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron help configure a C-17 Globemaster III. The Reservists participated in the flight departing from McChord Field Jan. 8, 2012. The exercise included scenarios where patients injured in combat needed to be loaded and cared for on a four-hour flight around the local area. These training exercises occur monthly and enable Reservists to hone their skills for real-world deployments and humanitarian missions.

Ending an era
Maj. Tony Edwards, 446th Logistics Readiness Flight commander, returned recently from his deployment to Kirkuk Regional Air Base, Iraq, where he acted as the 321st Logistics Readiness Squadron commander and helped pack up remaining gear as the United States prepared to turn the base over to Iraqis.

Fly-away exercise time to focus on deployed mission
Tech Sgt. Danielle Jones, 627th Communications Squadron, fills out a hand receipt for issued equipment on McChord Field.
