Reservists drive deployment support

Reserve aerial port Airman shines in Balad
Staff Sgt. Shauna Rosa, Reservists from the 86th Aerial Port Squadron, McChord Air Force Base, Wash., receives a coin from Lt. Gen. Gary North, US Central Command commander. Sergeant Rosa was recognized for her skills and wiliness to step forward. She jumped in on her first shift at Joint Base Balad, Iraq and learned quickly the duties of ramp dispatch. Her clear, concise direction and coordination quickly became the model to follow. She now trains others to dispatch for ramp nightshift. Wing airlifts fire truck to Mexico
Tech Sgt. Dirk Gillespie, 86th Aerial Port Squadron, McChord Air Force Base, Wash., prepares a fire truck for a joint inspection before it can be loaded onto a C-17. The fire truck, along with pallets of rescue equipment, was flown by Air Force Reserve aircrews here to Guadalajara, Mexico on Sept. 19. Using the Denton Amendment, three local non-profit agencies worked with the 446th Airlift Wing for more than one year to secure the cargo's transportation to Mexico.
