U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Joe Nauman, an assistant operations officer and pilot with the 97th Airlift Squadron out of McChord Field, Wash, lets the moment sink in while preparing for his check ride on a C-17 Globemaster III. Check rides are in-flight pilot evaluations to ensure they are mission ready. Colonel Nauman recently won his battle with cancer. Second Lt. Noel Carroll, 446th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron flight nurse, McChord Field, Wash., visits her brother's grave in Montesano, Wash. where they grew up. Staff Sgt. Timothy P. Davis was a combat controller who died in combat in Afghanistan, February 2009. Lieutenant Carroll shares a similar story with another nurse in her squadron, Capt. Beverly Davidson, whose former husband was a pararescueman who died in a helicopter crash eight years ago while saving lives. Ron Campeau, 313th Airlift Squadron resource manager loadmaster, prepare to secure a luggage pallet on a C-17 Globemaster III before leaving for a training mission to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Jan. 10. JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii- Reservists with the 446th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron out of McChord Field, Wash. take a moment to appreciate the Seattle Seahawks' Spirit of the 12th Man during a training mission here. Capt. Lee Wilkerson, a KC-135 Stratotanker pilot from Spokane, Wash., who injured his neck in Hawaii, helps the crew with "raising" the 12th Man flag. The concept is a way of letting the Seahawks' organization know how much the 446th Airlift Wing appreciates the support that the organization has for the military and how that support is felt with the Reservists serving all over the world.
