JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. -- Interpersonal connection is a vital component of a happy and healthy life. This fact has been corroborated by both research and anecdote; we humans crave connection to the world around us and to those with which we share it.
The old saying “birds of a feather flock together” springs to mind. We gravitate towards those who share our personal passions, and this is often the gateway to a deeper, more personal relationship.
However, we are also often ignorant of just how many people in our vicinity may have interests that overlap our own. We might even pass within inches of them without a second thought, never knowing they could have been some of the greatest friends of our lives.
Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey, Get Connected was founded in late 2018 in the hopes of drawing those disparate birds of a feather together. We exist solely to aid Club Leads in the creation and promotion of their unique clubs, not to tell them what they should look like or how they should run.
Despite still being in our infancy as an organization, we have grown to 24 clubs, with several more in the works. Diversity is one of the Joint Force’s greatest strengths, and our groups reflect that rich variation.
The clubs vary greatly in premise, from dirt bike riding, classic car enthusiasts, board, tabletop, and role-playing games. You can delve into the installation’s past with our Joint Base Military Historian, spar with one of our MMA & jiu-jitsu groups, or meet fellow musicians for a jam session. Fitness, photography, or whatever you find fun. There are people out there looking to share it with you.
