Reservists who are paid for training are required to register information about their civilian place of employment. The 446th Airlift Wing currently has 82 percent of its Airmen registered, which is up from the 68 percent compliance rate of a year ago.

"Our goal is 90 percent or better," said Tech. Sgt. Marvin Holland, 446th Force Support Squadron military personnel flight chief of customer support. "The MPF customer support does not control the functional management or content of the civilian employment information program. It is the member's responsibility to annually update or make corrections to their civilian employment profile."

The Civilian Employment Information Program is the first mandatory disclosure by members of the Selected Reserve and Individual Ready Reserve of their civilian employers into a common database. The CEI program began in March 2004.

Reservists can register and update their CEI online at https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/esgr and clicking on Civilian Employment Info Program.

After clicking on the Web site, Reservists enter their employment status, employer's name, mailing address, civilian job title and total number of years in their current civilian occupation.

Unlike previous military service efforts to voluntarily gather employer data, the CEI program is mandatory. Reservists who knowingly fail or refuse to provide their employment- related information, or provide false information, may be subject to administrative action. If on duty, they could face punishment for dereliction of duty under Article 92 of the Uniformed Code of Military Justice.

"When you've updated your CEI data, you have the option to print a certificate of completion. This is your proof the data was successfully updated," said Holland.

If you're not employed, but rather are a student or unemployed, there is a section to update that information as well. Reservists who are on orders and do not have a regular civilian job at this time they should complete this as unemployed.

Guard and Reserve members are required to register information about their civilian employer and job skills, in order for the Department of Defense to meet three different requirements defined in law. The Department of Defense is required to: give consideration to civilian employment necessary to maintain national health, safety and interest when considering members for recall; ensure that members with critical civilian skills are not retained in numbers beyond those needed for those skills, and inform employers of reservists of their rights and responsibilities under the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-employment Rights Act.
