School is out, the weather is, for the most part, conducive to outdoor fun, and Reservists families are once again invited to the 446th Airlift Wing's annual Family Day symposium and picnic July 12.

Family Day picnics are sometimes held by each group; however this year it will be a wing-wide event at Heritage Hill from 11 a.m., to 4 p.m. Free food, free fun, and lots of camaraderie are plan for the afternoon.

"The wing commander is excited for everyone to come out and enjoy the day," said Maj. Michael Masuda, 313th Airlift Squadron and one of the event's organizers "It is a great opportunity for families to be exposed to our mission and to get to know one another."

But before families and Reservists take time to eat and enjoy the afternoon, family members will have the opportunity to gain information on all the benefits and programs available to them at the Air Force Reserve Family Symposium.

The Air Force Reserve Family Symposium is also July 12, from 8 to 11:00 a.m. in Hangar 9.

"Spouses and children are a part of our Air Force family and we have a special event set up for them," said Col. Bruce Bowers, 446th AW commander. "As an important contributor to your Air Force Reservist's military career, this information is for you to know and the symposium is an opportunity to meet and network with other family members of the 446th Airlift Wing."

Information available at the symposium includes:
Airman and Family Readiness,
Care and Share,
Wingman Tool Kit,
Yellow Ribbon Program
Hero to Hired,
Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve,
Air Force Aid Society,
Veteran Benefits,
Tricare,
Military Family and Life Counselors
Fitness,
Demand Drug Reduction

At the picnic, Reservists and their families will be treated to a meal provided by Dickey's Barbecue Pit. In addition to great food, there will be tournaments for squadron teams in Cornhole, Volleyball, Tug of War, and Horseshoes. Trophies will go to the winners, so get your squadron teams together now and sign up through your first sergeants! For the kids, there will be three bounce houses, two obstacle courses, a giant slide, and tons of games with prizes.
