Postal Service, McChord team up to commemorate Air Force anniversary Published Sept. 14, 2007 MCCHORD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- The U.S. Postal Service and the 62nd Airlift Wing will honor the Air Force's 60th Anniversary with a commemorative pictorial cancellation stamp here Sept. 18, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the base commissary. The pictorial cancellation features the B-24 Liberator Bomber, which was flown in every combat theater during World War II. These kinds of postmarks are unique and commemorate a special event, and are often sought after by stamp collectors and others interested in U.S. postal history. Active duty and Reserve Airmen, as well as family members, retirees and civilian employees can receive this pictorial cancellation on any material that bears un-cancelled postage at the U.S. first-class rate of 41 cents. These items do not need to be addressed because once cancelled, they are immediately returned to the person who submits them.
