News In Brief Published April 10, 2009 446th Airlift Wing Public Affairs MCCHORD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- Wing gets 4th Air Force top awards in maintenance Senior Airman Channel Bolton-Scholl of the 446th Maintenance Squadron, earned top honors in the 4th AF Airman of the Year competition. The 446th MXS, Avionics Flight, Avionic Integrated System Section, received the 4th AF Maintenance Section of the Year award. Physicals by appointment now on Reserve weekend The 446th Aerospace Medicine Squadron will now conduct physicals by appointments throughout the day on UTAs. Reservists must arrive 10 minutes before their appointment and report to the following locations (based on exam type): for flight physicals report to the optometry clinic; for non-fly long physicals, report to the dental clinic; and for short non-fly physicals, report to the main clinic in Bldg. 690. Reservists arriving 10 minutes past their appointment time will be turned away. Fitness screenings are located at the Airman's Clinic section of the 62nd AMDS facility from 1 to 3 p.m. Reservists must collect their medical records at the 446th AMDS building before their screenings. RODEO 2009 needs support of wranglers, interpreters RODEO 2009 is on the lookout for people who want to volunteer as wranglers and interpreters for this year's event. Squadrons can also apply as sponsors, to assist with the international teams. Airmen who complete PME by correspondence have a one-year waiting period between enrollments. People completing one in-residence or correspondence PME must wait one year before enrolling or attending another PME. Call the wing training office at 982-9107 if you have any questions. Additional gates for primary UTA ease traffic congestion inbound Reservists are reminded to use the two additional gates available on Reserve primary drill weekends, from 6 to 9 a.m., and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The north gate, located next to the 62nd Aerial Port Squadron building, is accessible from the 512 exit at Steele Street. The housing gate is accessible from the Gravelly Lake Drive exit from I-5. On alternate drill weekends, normal gate hours apply. Major, captain executive officer sought for mission support group The 446th Mission Support Group needs a senior captain or junior major to fill its group executive officer position. Plan for wing-wide Family Day in August; volunteer to organize All wing Reservists and their families are invited to a wing-wide celebration of the support our families give us. The event is scheduled for Aug. 8, so mark your calendars. If you'd like to help organize this huge event, Family Day planning meetings are held every UTA Saturday at 11 a.m., in the Wing Conference Room (Bldg. 1214). Seven digits need to be dialed for calls to other on base phones The base telephone switch has upgraded its software. All on-base telephone users must now dial seven digits (382-XXXX or 982-XXXX) to complete a call or when forwarding their phone to another number (*70 982-XXXX). Personnel questions answered with central telephone number Members of the Total Force - regular Air Force, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve, civilian and retired Airmen now have one central phone number to call for help with their personnel questions. Members of the Air Force community should call the Total Force Service Center at 800-525-0102 to reach a customer service counselor to discuss issues ranging from retraining, promotions and identification cards to leave, retirements and civilian benefits. 'Leading Regardless of Rank' Seminar set for August The 446th Airlift Wing's Career Workshop is now called the "Leading Regardless of Rank Seminar." This free seminar will take place on Aug. 10-11, in Hangar 9. Confirmed attendees include the Air Force Reserve Command Chief and 4th Air Force Command Chief.
