Experience at running aeromedical evacuation missions in the Southwest Asia area paid off for the 446th Rodeo Aeromedical Evacuation team, which scored a respectable 915 out of 1050 during their July 20 contingency flight.

The contingency flight is one of three events for aeromedical evacuation teams during Air Mobility Command's Rodeo, July 19-24 at McChord Air Force Base, Wash.

The 446th Rodeo AE team started the event with a bit of a snag. The ramp on the C-130 Hercules they were on had a hydraulic leak that had to be fixed before take-off.

Once they were off on their five hour sortie, the team ran aeromedical operations onboard as they would in a normal mission profile currently flown in support of operations in the Middle East.

The whole team felt that they did pretty well overall.

"It was intense," said Staff Sgt. Sydney Reed, 446th Rodeo AE team. "We were all pretty nervous."

"We had the usual competition jitters," said Capt. Joe Foss, 446th Rodeo AE team, team chief. "The team has been training for these Rodeo events, and all the training is really paying off."
