The Barnes Gate to McChord Air Force Base, Wash., closes Sept. 9 from 9 to 11 a.m., for an inspection. Please use the main gate during this time.

At other times, Reservists and civilian employees are encouraged to use the Barnes Gate to lessen the volume of traffic going through the main gate, particularly during peak hours in the morning and the lunch period of 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to Tech. Sgt. Travis Lusk, 62nd Security Forces Squadron.

The directions to the Barnes gate are as follows:

From I-5 take Exit 123. Make a right off the exit ramp; follow the road for one mile. Make a left turn onto 150th Street and travel for approximately three miles. Make a left at the stop sign on 150th Street and Perimeter Road. Follow Perimeter Road for one mile and then make a left turn at the light onto Barnes Avenue.

From Spanaway follow the Spanaway Loop, turn onto Perimeter Road and travel for approximately one and a half miles to the intersection of Perimeter Road and Barnes Avenue.
