I-5 construction will affect travel to McChord Field

Reservists traveling to McChord Field on I-5 for the next couple of UTAs will experience travel delays due to construction the weekends of

The Washington State Department of Transportation will be closing all but one lane of I-5 in both directions near Bridgeport Way Sept. 24-26 and Oct. 1-3, to replace worn panels along the interstate. 

Sept. 24, both directions of I-5 will be reduced to a single lane by 11 p.m.  Northbound lanes will reopen to traffic Saturday at 7 a.m. and all southbound lanes reopen to traffic by 11 a.m.

Sept. 25, northbound I-5 will be reduced to a single lane by 8 p.m., and southbound I-5 will be reduced to a single lane by midnight. Southbound lanes will reopen Sunday by 8 a.m. and northbound lanes will reopen by noon.

A repeat of this closure is scheduled Oct. 1-3, affecting travel of Reservists coming to the primary UTA.  Drivers are encouraged to allow extra time to reach destinations, and to consider alternate routes.  For more information, drivers can call 5-1-1 or click on the related links.
