Veterans Day offers and more on MilitaryMerits Web site

NAVY REGION NORTHWEST, Wash. --  Navy Region Northwest Fleet and Family Readiness Programs has launched Military Merits, a new online service designed to serve as a one-stop shop for military community discounts. Military Merits offers discounts on shopping, entertainment, recreation, dining, lodging, services and more. Military Merits was developed as a way to augment the Navy's MWR Information, Tickets and Tours (ITT) program - a military discount program.  It Web site and it's offerings are open to all DOD cardholders.

Military Merits is a way for companies to show their support for our troops and those who serve them with preferred prices reserved exclusively for the military community. Businesses interested in joining the Military Merits program need to offer a minimum of a ten percent discount off regular rates and have flexibility in tailoring special promotions for the military community.

Military Merits differs from other world-wide military discount programs in that it focuses on local companies, attractions, and services. Currently, over 200 participants are featured including a constantly updated selection of Northwest hotels, most events at ShoWare Center, Tacoma Dome and Comcast Arena, Intiman Theatre, Broadway Across America, Argosy Cruises, Pacific Science Center, Seattle Aquarium, Sounders FC, numerous Northwest ski resorts and "Hot Deals" on special events like the Seahawks, Mariners and ski resort Military Appreciation Days.

There are several ways companies may offer discounts: at the door with the customer showing proper military identification with our "Show Your ID and Save!" or on-line via promotional codes using a "Print & Go!" option. Some ticket discounts are also offered exclusively at local base ITT locations.

Military Merits opens up more opportunities for the Navy to offer discount tickets for purchase online and allows companies a way to promote the discounts they offer at their gates. All discounts must be offered to active duty, and can be additionally offered to military retirees, Department of Defense civilians, reservists and family members. Military Merits' audience is diverse and includes the Navy, Marines, Army, Air Force and Coast Guard personnel in the entire Northwest Region.
