Civilian employers of Reservists are required to let their employee go when duty calls.  Often times all they know is that they're valued employee is missing, probably having a good time somewhere like Hawaii.

While it is true that occasionally Reservists depart for annual training to what many consider a plush location, the life of a Reservist is not so plush, regardless of where they go for duty.

The 446th Airlift Wing Employer Orientation Day set for April 2 aims at helping civilian employers get a real understanding of what their Reservists do when they are called away on orders or for annual training.

Up to 40 civilian employers will be invited to participate in this semi-annual event.  They start their day early be reporting to the base where they are met by the 446th Airlift Wing Public Affairs staff.  Employers are then taken to the mobility processing center on base and begin receiving briefings on their "deployment" that day.

After receiving their briefings, the Reservists for a day take to the skies in the C-17 for an airdrop mission, followed by a combat offload.

Reservists who are interested in nominating their employer for this event should download the application here and submit it to the 446th Airlift Wing Public Affairs office (preferably electronically) by March 1.

If you have questions about the event, call the public affairs office at 982-3330.
