The economy may make it tough to find a career.  However, job-seeking Reservists and other veterans may find some welcome help searching for civilian employment.

"We all need help from time to time," said Carl Supplee, 446th Airmen and Family Readiness Center director, here.

Mr. Supplee said there's a broad network of support for veterans looking for civilian employment or seeking better jobs.

For example, assisting veterans and their families with employment transition services is the focus of the J9 Joint Service Support Center, located on Camp Murray, Wash. Through the Warrior Employment Club, Reservists and their families can find help with resume development, career and employment counseling, interview tips, job search techniques and access to hiring events and human resource managers.

Another source Mr. Supplee mentioned is WorkSource. The Worksource Center helps develop an employment plan based on veterans' skills, interests and abilities. With more than 20,000 Washington State job listings, WorkSource centers throughout the state also provide hiring events, special workshops, and resume assistance with priority referrals for jobs over non-veteran applicants with the same qualifications.

The Employer Partnership of the Armed Forces is another resource for helping link servicemembers to employers in various industries across the country. Through the Employer Partnership Office, veterans can more effectively leverage their military experience and training for civilian career opportunities.
