Get mileage-only vouchers paid faster Published April 13, 2011 By Sandra Pishner 446th Airlift Wing Public Affairs MCCHORD FIELD, Wash., -- Reservists filing mileage-only travel vouchers can receive their reimbursement faster by submitting their claim through AROWS-R, the Reserve orders program. AROWS-R is a program that does more than process orders putting Reservists on duty status; it is also the place for Reservists on short-tour orders in a commute status to file their claim for reimbursement of mileage. Mileage-only travel claims will no longer be accepted or processed through the Air Force Financial Service Center, Ellsworth AFB, S.D, according to Mr. Bill Britt, 446th AW Reserve pay supervisor. The 446th Airlift Wing Financial Management office will soon discontinue accepting paper vouchers. Mileage only is for members who are commuting from home to the duty station and are authorized one round trip from home to the duty location and return without any other underlying TDY's or back to back orders. If a member will be traveling home at the end of an order, it is not considered back to back, even if a new order will start the following day. If the orders allow the Reservist other travel and per diem entitlements, then these travel reimbursements will follow the current procedure of being processed through e-finance by the Air Force Financial Service Center at Ellsworth AFB. Certify your orders through AROWS-R and claim the mileage by completing the following statement in the Tour of Duty Certification action: DID YOU DRIVE YOUR POV? _Y_ LIMITED TO ONE ROUND TRIP. POV TYPE _X_AUTO ___MOTORCYCLE: TOTAL MILES_XX_. SIGN AND DATE __DIGITAL SIGNATURE AND DATE___ If the order is a short-tour "will commute" order, members and supervisors will certify blocks 36 though 44 along with completing the mileage statement in the remarks section. If the order does not contain the mileage statement and it is a mileage only order, an amendment will need to be created by the orders clerk in AROWS-R. Orders processed through AROWS-R will pay members their pay and mileage entitlements faster than submitting a hard copy through the wing finance office. Hard copies may be submitted, but are highly discouraged since they delay payments to members.
