There has never been a better time than now to begin your path to educational success. 2011 is the year of the Community College of the Air Force and marks a time when all McChord's Airmen can prosper with the help of our 446th Force Support Squadron Education and Training Center.

"CCAF is a fast-track for a degree," said Ms. Maria Murtha-Endris, Education and Training Counselor with the 446th FSS. "By the time most Airmen finish technical school and their 5-skill level upgrade, they've completed nearly 25% of the requirements for their CCAF Associate of Applied Science degree."

Ms. Murtha-Endris helps Reservists achieve their educational goals by connecting their job-related training with flexible degree completion programs offered by the CCAF.

Enrolling in the CCAF is simple and credits begin to accumulate during basic training. With 67 degree programs in five general areas, the CCAF provides career-specific education for the enlisted force, preparing them to meet the complex leadership challenges in an increasingly sophisticated expeditionary Air Force.

The next CCAF graduation ceremony is planned for May 13, with 56 of McChord's Airmen scheduled to receive their CCAF degrees.

"The 446th Airlift Wing has consistently produced a high number of graduates in each of the two graduating classes each year," said Senior Master Sgt. Cheri Lewis, chief, 446th Force Development Flight. "Over the past year, 93 members graduated from associate degree programs and many of these Reservists received subsequent degrees from previously held AFSCs."

Because of this achievement, the 446th FSS has been recognized each of the past six years by the commandant, Community College of the Air Force, with a Certificate of Recognition, said Sergeant Lewis.

Reservists can start taking steps today toward earning a CCAF degree and building a positive future. You can view your CCAF Web Progress Report through the Air Force Portal and link to the AF Virtual Education Center. The CCAF link can be found under the self service options menu or you can contact the 446th FSS Education and Training Center at (253) 982-2300.
