Promoting healthy financial habits for Airmen and their families is focus of the Department of Defense's Military Saves Campaign.

In its sixth year, the campaign evolves from the partnership of the military services, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and the Consumer Federation of America. This campaign seeks to create awareness for military members of the importance of savings to help them reach their financial and personal goals.

Reservists with the 446th Airlift Wing are invited to participate in any of the financial education events planned for Feb. 21-24 at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

And if you can't make it next week, just stop by the 446th Force Support Squadron's Airman and Family Readiness Center, Bldg. 1207 for some family-friendly financial tips.

"We have a lot of reading materials in our office, and booklets for setting up budgets. We constantly receive information from different resources that can support our members and families," said Master Sgt. Stephanie Carrasquillo, NCOIC of the A&FRC.

Other sources are offered at special events, such as the Yellow Ribbon gatherings.

"At Yellow Ribbon events, we offer classes for financial planning, money stressors, and setting budgets," said Chief Master Sgt. Karilyn Graham, 446th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron first sergeant. Graham is also the wing's Yellow Ribbon event coordinator.

Back at McChord Field, Reservists are invited to also make use of resources at the 62nd Airlift Wing's family readiness office.

"The active-duty family readiness office has a personal financial advisor Reservists can meet with as well," said Carrasquillo.

Reservists can also find financial education resources at MilitaryOneSource, including a free session with a financial advisor.
