Due to sequestration, the 446th Airlift Wing has put a spin to their biannual Employer Orientation Day here, May 4.

Traditionally, the Reservists' civilian employers board a C-17 Globemaster III aircraft for a local flight as part of the event. With the flight being postponed, employers will get a more detailed exposure to other aspects of the 446th AW mission, their ability to provide a combat-ready, cost-effective, and experienced force, and the C-17 experience.

Over a four-hour course, the wing will provide scenario demonstrations of their top aeromedical evacuation and staging units, security forces tactical team, and aerial port cargo loading and unloading team, all occurring on a C-17 static display.

Employers will also be familiarized with the equipment used by Reservists to protect themselves from chemical, biological, radiation and nuclear attacks, explosive ordnance disposal techniques and a walking tour of the C-17.

Employer Orientation Day has provided a vital link between Reservists and their civilian employers. The event fosters a supportive and strong employer and employee relationship due to employers receiving a first-hand understanding of the Reservists' mission and obligations. One of the best avenues for providing this awareness is through the 446th Airlift Wing's Employer Orientation Day.
