Cadets from the Reynolds High School Army Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps, Troutdale, Ore. visited the 446th Airlift 'Rainier' Wing to learn about the Team McChord mission, April 7, 2018.

The tour was led by Tech. Sgt. Kyle Harris, loadmaster with the 728th Airlift Squadron and also Deputy Sheriff School Resource Officer at Reynolds High School.

“This is such a great opportunity for these cadets to get a glimpse of what their future could be like in the military,” said Harris. “I’m so glad we are able to bring them out here to help make an informed decision about their future. The military has so much to offer, and it has definitely helped me to be successful.”

The students toured the installation, learning about the loadmaster, pilot, crew chief, and medical career fields, even getting to enjoy their first meal at a military dinning facility.

One highlight of their tour was an inside look into a C-17 aircraft.

“This is something way cooler than what most people ever get to see,” said Retired 1st Sgt. Greg Bynum, an instructor for Reynolds High School Army JROTC program. “This opportunity means so much to these cadets.”

Bynum explained the tour was an amazing experience for his cadets and he hopes to bring future groups to the base.
