Active Denial System Maritime Environment Demonstration
Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Directorate
April 11, 2006 | 1:07
A maritime demonstration of the Active Denial System was conducted in April 2006 at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. The Active Denial System is an advanced, directed energy, counter-personnel non-lethal weapon. The ADS projects a focused beam of 95GHz millimeter waves at a range of up to 1,000 meters to induce an intolerable heating sensation on an adversary’s skin, repelling the individual with minimal risk of injury. For more information about the Active Denial System, visit http://jnlwp.defense.gov/pressroom/faq_p2.html. Official Department of Defense Non-Lethal Weapons Program video.
