COLONEL SCOTT A. MEYER
Colonel Scott A. Meyer is Commander of the 446th Airlift Wing, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. He ensures the readiness of more than 1,800 Traditional Reservists, Air Reserve Technicians, and civilians to support worldwide airlift and airdrop operations. The 446th Airlift Wing flies and supports the C-17 Globemaster III weapon system. Partnering with active-duty, Guard and civilian agencies, the 446th Airlift Wing provides airlift support to Operation Deep Freeze, the National Science Foundation’s U.S. Antarctic Program.
Col. Meyer received his commission through Officer Training School, Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala., after attending Virginia Polytechnic Institute and The College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Va. Following undergraduate pilot training at Vance AFB, Okla., he served on active duty as an aircraft commander with the 384th Air Refueling Squadron, McConnell AFB, Kansas. After five years of active service, he joined the Air Force Reserve and transitioned to the 18th Air Refueling Squadron at McConnell AFB. Col. Meyer served in a variety of positions at the squadron, wing and higher headquarters, where he served as a KC-46 Training and Tactics Functional Area Manager. Col. Meyer also helped to stand up an Air Force Reserve KC-135 squadron at Beale AFB, Calif.
Prior to his current position, Col. Meyer served as Commander of the 349th Operations Group, Travis AFB, Calif., where he helped provide strategic airlift, air refueling, aeromedical evacuation and air mobility operations to Combatant Commanders around the world.
