JBLM Chaplain canidates tour JBLM
Chaplain candidates from numerous denominations descended on McChord Field as part of a tour of various bases during the Air Force Chaplain Candidate Intensive Internship (C2I2) tour, June 28 through Jul 9. After spending a day with active duty, they spent the remainder of their time touring the ‘Rainier’ Wing and observing what life is like for an Air Force Reservist.

On June 10th, dozens of people gathered in Meriden, Conn. to watch the retirement of faded and worn American flags during the American Legion, Post 45 Disposal of Unserviceable Flags Ceremony. Many of the flags had been displayed in honor of deceased service members several years ago, while some had flown one last time in a C-130H “Hercules” aircraft on Memorial Day throughout the state of Connecticut.

Freddie Garza got to show the world his talent when he performed the National Anthem before 16.24 million television viewers and an energized crowd at the Cleveland Cavaliers Quicken Loans Arena for Game 4 of the NBA Finals. In the process, the Reserve Citizen Airman was able to give some great exposure to the Air Force Reserve.

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. -- Reserve Citizen Airmen based out of Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, participated in Rainier Medic hosted by the 446th Airlift Wing, a joint training event meant to bring reserve units from all over the U.S. to Joint Base Lewis-McChord to practice field medical skills essential to mission accomplishment while deployed or responding to a contingency operation. Members of the Air Force and Navy Reserve used real world assets, which included UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters and C-17 Globemaster III aircraft.

A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster drops supplies over a drop zone in Adazi, Latvia, June 9, 2018. Four aircraft from the 62nd Airlift Wing at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington and four aircraft from the 437th Airlift Wing at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina provided support to exercise Swift Response 18.
