Farewell to former Maintenance Squadron commander
Col. Maureen Carroll, 446th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron commander, poses for a photo in a C-17 Globemaster III on the Joint Base Lewis-McChord flight line before her promotion ceremony June 4, 2016. Carroll will leave the 446th Airlift Wing to be the individual mobilization augmentee to the Air Force Network Integrations Center commander. The AFNIC, located at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., is the Air Force's premier organization for Air Force Network integration, cyber simulation, and network standards, architecture and engineering services. Carroll originally enlisted in 1979 and joined the 446th Maintenance Group 10 years later as a crew chief. Senior Master Sgt. Marty Hitt, 446th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Blue Aircraft Maintenance Unit assistant superintendent at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, has been in the Air Force Reserve for 16 years. During the week, he works in the Maintenance & Engineering division at Alaska Airlines in Sea-Tac, Washington. Hitt’s been with the company for 16 years as well. Staff Sgt. Steven Smith, 446th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron propulsion mechanic Steven worked as a sheet metal mechanic during his four-year stint as an active-duty Airman before joining the Reserve in 2012. “I hope to acquire a full-time (air reserve technician) position, preferably here at (McChord Field, Wash.),” said the Burley, Idaho native. “I also hope to finish my CCAF degree by the end of 2013. Smith is one of more than 2,200 Citizen Airmen assigned to the 446th Airlift Wing, Washington State’s only Air Force Reserve flying unit, and is based at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, McChord Field, Wash.
